Copper brazed plate heat exchanger
The plate heat exchangers consist of 0.3 mm thick pressed sheets made of AISI316L stainless steel. The heat transfer medium flows through the channels between the plates. Each of the plates is surrounded by a primary medium on one side and a secondary medium on the other, in which heat exchange takes place. The boards are connected around the perimeter and at all contact points with the adjacent board by copper soldering (99% copper).
Brazed heat exchangers cannot be cleaned mechanically (they cannot be disassembled) and it is necessary to prevent clogging of the channels by regular chemical cleaning. In the case of liquids with small solids (wort), a safety filter (Y filter, wort filter) must be installed before entry. The exchanger is flushed in the opposite direction to the normal operating flow. Use chemicals and equipment designed for cleaning (depending on the type of contamination). We recommend using the cleaning agents offered for cleaning stainless steel, and copper. You can obtain information on the suitability of the cleaning solution either directly from the manufacturer or a retailer that sells similar substances. (Cleaning and disinfection in the beverage industry) The manufacturer (seller) of the cleaning agent asks about compatibility with stainless steel
- suitability for use in the food industry (if required),
- ability to remove specified sludges, sediments, impurities, and hard water deposits,
- is easily rinsed from the device,
- has no undesirable fumes or corrosive effects.
Corrosion agents of this steel, especially nitric acid, and hydrochloric acid in any concentration, cannot be used on AISI316L!
Areas of application of heat exchangers
Brazed plate heat exchangers can be used in many ways for many applications, eg for conventional heat transfer in heat exchangers and heat transfer stations, as well as for special or unusual applications (countercurrent wort cooler). They are also suitable for pool water heating, solar systems, and for use in the light industry. Plate heat exchangers have a wide range of uses in industry, food, and other related fields.
